Orange ConferenceApril 25-27th: Atlanta, Georgia This years theme was... ONE VOICE: WE CAN DO MORE TOGETHER Orange Conference is a time for next generation leaders from across the globe to join together. We come together to learn skills, and to be more equipped with what we are doing at our churches for the next generation. We are reminded the importance of what we do in our Children's Ministry & Next Generation classes. It was a great time for encouragement and impartation. It was like a big party that you didn't want to leave. The guest speakers, the music, the skits, and the words were spot on. I am beyond grateful to have been able to attend this conference. It was a great experience. We shared laughter, tears, and wisdom with one another. I will share snip bits of the conference, pictures. & quotes here. There were many speakers at this conference, that a few of them I may have missed their name. So If I didn't add their name that is why. Wednesday, April 25th Jon Acoff: In one of his messages, he talked about how we have a mindset with the fear of success. We feel shame as though we don't deserve the success that we made for ourselves. He then discusses how we beat the shame, and that is with relationships. His answer is together, you have to act together. Gerald Fadayomi: I loved what this speaker said "We are standing in a room full of people who believe in the next generation." We look at the next generation & believe they can do more! He asks the question: What is one thing you would pray for, for the next generation? Then he goes to the next question: If Jesus could only pray for one thing for the next generation, what would it be? Jesus prays for unity! He said that: Our Unity affects his credibility. A United Church is: Powerful, Culture Shaping, World Changing. "It’s not what you build that matters, it’s what happens in you. Thursday, April 26th "When you lead as a team with one voice... what matter most matters more" Andy Stanley: ONENESS is how we will WIN! This is mission critical. Unity is mission critical, and Disunity disrupts the mission. He then gave us a list on a way for us to be one with one another. The One Another List: Forgive One Another, Accept One Another, Care for One Another, Encourage One Another, Submit to one another, Restore One Another, Carry One Another's Burdens, Bear with one another. (Breakout Sessions)Play With Purpose - Brittany Roberston Why is play so important?
Let's Get Messy with them! Let them have fun! Let them make a mess! Let their creative juices & imagination run wild! We need to Get Messy! Messes can make Monuments! Make It Stick, or Make It Sticky! Think Orange 101 - E.J.Swanson: I want to share all of my notes from this session but i want to keep them short & to the point on this. If you want to read more, you can ask me, or check his resources out. How can we BUILD a better STRATEGY to increase our INFLUENCE with KIDS and FAMILIES? We define STRATEGY as simply, “a plan of action with an end in mind.” Think Strategy - It’s the effectiveness of your strategy, not just the scope of your mission that ultimately helps determine your success. Think Message - Just remember what you teach doesn’t matter simply because it’s true. It matters when you make it matter to the listener. The story is the same, but how you teach it isn’t. We have to engage with our age group, to get a response. Help them relate to God in the current phase that they are at. Think Community - Have someone in your son or daughters life, like a mentor! Think Family - Our job is to come alongside them. What you do on a Sunday should be emphasized throughout the week. What happens at home matters more than what happens at church. When you give parents a plan, you allow them to react. Think Influence - There is a difference between doing it for, or doing it with! Friday, April 27th When we create a safe place for kids over time
When we create a safe place for kids who are different - Kristen Ivy
When we create a safe place for kids who are hunting "There is no strategy if there is no sacrifice" -David Salyers Gospels
You measure how safe your ministry is, by how much they share with you How safe do we want to actually be? When we help parents be more intentional at home - Jon Acoff We need empathy for parents! Empathy is when you: Understand what someone need & act on it If they know you know what they need, and you don’t act on it. You loose that parent forever. When we help parents be more intentional at home You are running a good race! Next generation: they question everything They want: Community, Justice, Depth, & Mentorship. For these kids, the best way to teach them, is to live it. Leaders can best mentor themselves by

I've been missing My Home Away From Home... So I thought, I'd finally share pictures & what I did last year in May! I cant wait to go back again this year for new adventures! Louisville, Kentucky definitely left it's mark on my heart & in my life! I can't wait to be reunited with Bailey aka #TheBestestRoommateInTheWorld! May 5th Kentucky Derby Weekend...Bailey & I experienced our first every Kentucky Derby Weekend! The best part was that it was together! We got to dress up & have a great girls day with our friends, along with her family. I also had a fangirling moment when I found out I was in the same city & at the same event as Stephen Amell (Arrow) & Justin Hartley (This Is Us). May 6th - 7th Breakout Louisville... On the 6th- We saw Guardians Of The Galaxy 2! I couldn't wait to see it until I came back home, so we saw it while we were there. We were luxury lounge chairs that leaned all the way back & I was amazed. Since the closest one to me is a distance to drive to. It was an amazing movie that made me fall in love Groot all over again! On the 7th- We went to Breakout Louisville. The mission was to Escape The Island. We escaped with about 4 minutes to spare. It was a fun competitive game! May 8th- May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor... I love The Hunger Games Series as many of you do. Jennifer Lawrence is from Louisville, Kentucky so she had a Hunger Games Exhibition at the Frazier History Museum. This was such a well put together exhibition, it was interactive & exactly what every Hunger Games Fan would want! They encouraged you to take photographs & videos so we did just that. We also enjoyed the rest of the Museum where I put on a dance number for my friends not realizing there were workers & people watching. Whoops. I hope I made them laugh & smile at least. Enjoy! Thanks for experiencing my trip with me! Hope ya enjoyed it!
#LouisvilleTrip2017 Katarina I took my first flight today... 5/4/17 I planned a trip from May 4th to May 9th to head back to Louisville, KY to spend time with Bailey (my former roommate & still best friend) along with her family. This was my first personal mini vacation. And as I was preparing for travel plans on how to get there and back it was either by bus or plane. I decided to see if traveling by plane would work because ummm... why not? I had never traveled by plane before and it has always been something that I have wanted to do. Yet it also made me extremely nervous but also full of excitement. Because May 4th did not only start my vacation, but would also be the kick off of flights to come. This day was and will continue to be a significant part of my life. It meant the world to me, because it symbolized in my eyes more than just checking things off my bucket list. It was the start of kicking things into motion. Allowing for dreams, ideas, thoughts, actions, and words to flow through these moments over my trip. My first day of college was the start of my future... but my first day of this trip signified the start of my adventures. So obviously those of you who have or even those who haven't traveled by plane, know how costly the tickets can be. They can range from being fairly reasonable (when you get them early or catch a deal) to being quite expensive. So we asked a friend of ours who is a flight attendant to see what she could do to help us get a flight. Well it was a success, she was able to help us get a round trip for a great price. She walked me through every step from getting there, to checking in bags, to going through security, to getting to my gate #, getting on my flight, on my flight, and off. (And yes I needed every step in detail. I'm an over preparer. Haha.) Heights are not my forte and neither is accelerated speed, and what do both of those have in common? There are both used to make a plane fly. So you can understand my hesitation for flying. I of course asked anyone who I knew about how I feels to take off, and they said: "it will feel like a rollercoaster", "your ears will pop and will hurt", "just keep swallowing and you will be fine", "yes the acceleration and take off is fast but it won't feel as bad as you think it will. You will be fine and safe.", "once you take off you may feel slightly heavy, and your body will tilt back slightly but the take off is smooth." Some of these helped and others ehhh not so much. But, all of this got me through my flight. The Force was definitely with me on that day. The force that launched the plane from the ground of the Earth all the way up to the tops of the clouds. Even the force of me forcing myself to face a new day with new opportunities that are beginning to set into motion. I felt the power of the force through it all. To be able to see above the clouds and be so close to touching the sky. The view is beyond what words can express. Please take a flight if you haven't already even if it is just a weekend trip. Go somewhere you have always wanted to visit and sight see. The world is so massive and there is so much to see. This flight kick started the longing desire that I have to travel. This is just the start. -Traveler Katarina
